The tall-posted cape is a traditional house style that is found throughout
the New England states. It is a practical design that satisfied the needs of
people in the 18th and 19th centuries, and continues to be a very popular and
affordable design today. It has been the most popular of our frame designs for
the last 28 years.
The frame is designed to be traditional in exterior dimensions, frame
appearance and joinery. All the capes in this section are based on our
tall-posted cape. Our clients have asked us to add dormers, ells, and porches.
We have also increased the height of the posts and raised the roof pitch. We have never built two tall-posted capes with the same floor plan.
